Asunción Trade& Consulting

Markets we cover

Where we work - and what we actually know about each market.

Our regional focus is deliberate. We work where we have first-hand operating knowledge and where the gap between global consulting coverage and on-the-ground reality is widest. Below is what we know about each market and how that knowledge informs our advisory work.

Mercosur · Asunción

Paraguay

Paraguay sits at the crossroads of the Mercosur trade bloc, with a low cost base, an export-oriented business environment, and a population that is younger and more entrepreneurial than its regional reputation suggests. We have lived and worked in Asunción over multiple years; our advisory practice is built around the questions European and US operators most often ask before entering this market - partner structures, supplier reliability, sector dynamics, and how the business culture actually operates day-to-day. Our work here is more granular than what a desk-research briefing can offer.

Mercosur · Montevideo

Uruguay

Uruguay offers the most institutionally stable environment in the Southern Cone and is often the regional headquarters of choice for foreign companies operating across Mercosur. A transparent regulatory environment and a sophisticated commercial culture make it a frequent starting point for European founders. We help clients understand the strategic trade-offs between Uruguay-as-headquarters and Uruguay-as-operating-market, and what changes once you cross the river into Argentina or the border into Brazil.

Argentina

Argentina’s operating environment changes faster than most markets. The commercial and policy context can shift within a single quarter, and any strategic work in this market must be dated and current. We do not work on Argentina speculatively; we work on Argentina engagements when a client has a defined opportunity and needs current, sourced strategic guidance. What we know about Argentina, we keep current - what we do not know, we say so.

Central America · Panama City

Panama

Panama - editorial watercolour illustration

Panama is a logistical and commercial hub for trade flows between the Americas. Our work in Panama is focused on strategic use cases - typically regional distribution, supplier consolidation, and using the country as a commercial bridge between North and South America. We help clients evaluate whether a Panamanian presence actually accelerates their regional strategy, or whether it would only add operational overhead without proportionate benefit.

United States

Most European founders we work with arrive at the US market with the wrong assumptions about which markets to enter first, how aggressive US sales motions need to be in their sector, and how to choose between coastal and central regional strategies. We work on the strategic questions of US market entry - the right beachhead market, the first commercial hires, partnership versus direct entry, and how to evaluate whether the US opportunity is worth the operational attention.

For US clients

European Union

US founders considering EU expansion most often underestimate the structural differences between European markets and over-estimate the homogeneity of European demand. We focus on the markets where European-American trade volume is highest and operational complexity is lowest: Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia. Our work covers the strategic shape of European entry, including the specific differences between selling B2B in the DACH region, the Nordic countries, and Central Europe.
